Direct Edition. "The Arms of Doctor Octopus" Part 1 of 2. Script by Marv Wolfman. Pencils by John Byrne. Inks by Terry Austin. (Brilliant art that rivals their work on the Uncanny X-Men series during the same time period). Cover by Keith Pollard and Bob McLeod. It's an off-beat tale as a (presumed dead) government agent helps the web-slinger track down his long-time foe: Doctor Octopus! The wall-crawler doesn't know exactly what Otto Octavius is planning, but he knows that the six-armed super-villain must be stopped! At a construction site in the Bowery, the Amazing Spider-Man and Doc Ock wage war again! And if Spidey has to rip off Dr. Octopus' arms to beat him...he will! Story continues in Spectacular Spider-Man Annual 1. Second feature: "A Gallery of Spider-Man's Most Famous Foes!" Script by Marv Wolfman. Art by Keith Pollard and Frank Giacoia. 8 pages of pin-ups featuring the Molten Man, Looter, Rhino, Shocker, Kingpin, Silvermane, Man-Mountain Marko, Prowler; and the Kangaroo. Fireside Book Series - 1st printing. Collects Amazing Spider-Man (1963-1998 1st Series) #42-43, #82, and #96-98. Written by Stan Lee. Art by John Romita Sr. and Gil Kane. Cover by Bob Larkin. This volume in the amazing Marvel/Simon Schuster Fireside series (Origins of Marvel Comics TPB, Son of Origins TPB, Bring on the Bad Guys TPB) collects the 1st full appearance of Mary Jane Watson, features the villainy of Electro, Rhino, and the Green Goblin, and guest appearances by Foggy Nelson (from Daredevil) and Dr. Curt Connors (the Lizard). Also included is the critically acclaimed 3-part story where one of Peter Parker's closest friends struggles with drug addiction. This is a significant story in the history of Marvel Comics for at the time of its release these issues (#96-98) were not approved by the Comics Code Authority because of the (anti-)drug themed story. (Not that the Comics Code was pro-drug, of course. It's just that at this time, comics couldn't mention drugs at all, even negatively). Softcover, 130 pages, full cover. Cover price $3.95.

Direct Edition. "Today the Avengers Die!" Script by Bill Mantlo. Pencils by Don Newton. Inks by Jack Abel and Joe Rubinstein. Cover by Don Newton and Joe Rubinstein. At the end of Iron Man 114, the powerful Arsenal disappeared without a trace. In the meantime Earth's Mightiest Heroes have been too busy fighting other super-villains to spend time looking for the awesome creature. But there are several overlooked clues that could pinpoint Arsenal's whereabouts! First, rumors have persisted for years that the United States built doomsday robots to continue fighting World War II in the event that the U.S. mainland suffered catastrophic losses. Second, Iron Man's late father, Howard Stark, worked on several high-tech secret projects for the federal government during the war. And third, the Avengers' headquarters was the former townhouse of Howard and Maria Stark. Very interesting! Is it possible...could it be possible...that Arsenal is hiding somewhere in the bowels of Avengers Mansion? Wow! It's a super showdown...the mighty Arsenal vs. the mighty Avengers! Can Iron Man lead the Avengers to victory against one of his father's greatest creations? Win or lose, heartbreak will rule the day for the golden avenger. A sensational story! Cameo appearance by Peter Gyrich. Flashback cameos by Howard Stark and President Harry Truman. Avengers Lineup: Beast, Captain America, Hawkeye, Iron Man, Scarlet Witch, Thor, Vision, Wonder Man, and Yellowjacket. (Notes: This underrated annual was Bill Mantlo's best Avengers story. Arsenal returns to action in Incredible Hulk 282.) 52 pgs. Cover price $0.60.
