This issue includes strips from October 12 – November 13, 1931, presenting the debut of Dick Tracy on the comics page. After his girlfriend Tess is abducted by Big Boys thugs and her father murdered, Dick Tracy joins the police force. He goes undercover with Big Boys gang to find and rescue her – but shes being forced to take part in the gangs next heist. This issue includes strips from May 2 - August 31, 1932, presenting the first adventures of Dick Tracy. Tracys dangerous final showdown with Big Boy aboard the cruise ship; Then, Tracys pursuit of the forger Alec Penn involves the first of the strips famous death-traps, ending with Tracy fighting a bear, an unresolved cliffhanger (as this was the final issue). The only issue of the series that was not squarebound. 48 pages, B&W. Cover price $2.95.
