$13.95
1st printing. Story and art by Gilbert Hernandez. The first story collection in Gilbert Hernandezs Palomar saga to take place after the events of 2010s High Soft Lisp is torn from the pages of Love and Rockets: New Stories, Love and Rockets Vol. IV, and Psychodrama Illustrated—and expanded with 14 new pages! In Lovers and Haters, 50-year-old cult movie actress Fritz, in addition to her alcoholism and the ups and downs of her career, must also contend with a controlling lover, Danny; a jealous rival, Mila; a score of younger Fritz imitators, a sex cult; and mad scientists. Also in her orbit is her niece, Killer (sometimes literally, as seen in a Doctor Who-inspired TV show), a teen actress trying to launch a singing career while solving math problems. The specter of Fritzs mother, Maria — also a cult movie actress — haunts them all with her beauty from beyond the grave. With a sprawling cast, Lovers and Haters is about mothers and daughters, aunts and nieces, complex and often toxic relationships, artists and exploiters, personas and obsessions. It reads like an X-rated The Substance mixed with Mommy Dearest and Performance, with an added dash of giallo. Softcover, 7 1/2-in. x 10-in., 120 pages, B&W. Mature Readers Cover price $19.99.

1st printing. Story and art by Sid Kotian. From the mind of Sid Kotian (Gambit, The Adventures of Apocalypse Al, Dream Police, Dents) comes Beneath an Alien Sky. On an alien planet, a madman releases a deadly monster onto an unsuspecting populace. The creature is the last of its kind. And it comes from the third planet orbiting a yellow sun. Beneath an Alien Sky was nominated for the 2023 Ringo Award for Best Presentation in Design. The Krimikitan are an alien race who brought themselves to the brink of complete ecological destruction. After a devastating war they refer to as the Realignment, their society reformed themselves under the leadership of a god like AI called Control. Having done away with the political class, peace reigned. The new societies were self-contained inside giant domes. The natural world outside was left to heal itself unencumbered by their meddling. However, not everyone was happy with this Realignment. Appi, a remnant of the old world, plots to ruin the world by introducing the universes most violent and invasive species into the fragile, recovering ecosystem. Standing in his way is Kopa, a cop. Appi and the creatures destructive ambition and Kopas naïve ambition collide with the fate of the domed city and the struggling natural world outside hanging in the balance. Hardcover, 8-in. x 11 1/2-in., 136 pages, full color. Cover price $24.99.

1st printing. BY Gilbert Hernandez and, Jaime Hernandez. Both Gilbert and Jaime Hernandez developed their skills as artists in public, in the pages of Love and Rockets, and as quickly as any artists ever have. The first issue showed two promising young tyros; by the fourth, both brothers were clearly among the foremost cartoonists of their generation. But not all of that development took place on the main stage of their shared magazine. They built up to their 1981 self-published debut with years of experiments, fan art, zine illustrations, early short comics, and gig posters, and continued to work out in personal sketchbooks after establishing themselves as the preeminent cartoonists they became. Fantagraphics published two volumes of this nascent or private drawing in 1989 and 1992. Now, this deluxe hardcover collects the work from these two volumes with other rarely-seen artwork for a new generation of admirers. It's presented as a dual-sided flip book with one cover, and one half of the book, featuring Jaime's work and a second cover, and other half of the book, highlighting Gilbert's work. The Hernandez Brothers mastery of comics is seen on every page of the thousands of pages of Love and Rockets theyve drawn over the last 40 years. Here, for the first time in three decades, see the work they put into becoming those artists. Hardcover, 10-in. x 13-in., 300 pages, B&W. Mature Readers Cover price $75.00.
