Having rejoined the Air Force during the Korean War, Steve is caught between a straight-arrow commander and the commander's wife, who has a shadowy past. Also, Scorchy Smith battles cattle rustlers. Kitchen Sink also provides a wealth of behind-the-scenes material about Caniff's career. This issue features a promotional illustration by Caniff for the Columbus Dispatch newspaper in 1965; a look at Caniff's first published cartoons in the Dispatch's "Escape From the Pen"; and Caniff's thoughts on the character Delta Index and the rivalry between the branches of the U.S. military.
