Given nature-based powers by the gods, Nature Boy is one of the lesser-known superhero creations of Jerry Siegel, co-creator of Superman. Environmental disasters cause Nature Boy to check in with the gods, who are angered by humanity's warlike ways and have decided to fight back. When the Cold War unexpectedly turns nuclear, Nature Boy gets the gods to help him avert a worldwide disaster. Nature Boy intervenes when greedy farmers turn lush pasture into a wasteland. Nature Boy was listed in Jon Morris's 2015 book The League of Regrettable Superheroes. Plus Pecos Bill lassos a tornado (a talking tornado, at that) in a story with art by Bob Powell. The Mayor inadvertently sells the whole town to Ikzip, an alien from the planet Jupiter. Ikzip uses Hypnojive music to bring all the teens in town under his control, and only Nature Boy can save them. Not your typical superhero plot! Nature Girl, in her only appearance, sets out to rescue her pet elephant Bonga from a poacher. While baby-sitting Junior, Nature Boy invokes the gods to go all Home Alone on a pair of would-be burglars. Nature Boy was listed in Jon Morris's 2015 book The League of Regrettable Superheroes, as well as Craig Yoe's Super Weird Heroes.
