The issue presents "the story of a nation--a degenerate nation whose people throughout the centuries have always been willing to follow their military leaders into endless, bloody, but futile warfare!" That's wartime comics for ya'. Script by Gardner Fox. Hawkman's chapter (with art by Joe Kubert--first art on the series) begins the story around 1250 A.D.
