"Red Man's Blood," art by Werner Roth; While hanging out in the Silver Bar Saloon, Aloysius Kare refuses to accept a drink from Angus Dobbs of the New York Land Company; The belligerent easterner gets on Kare's nerves; he does finally accept the drink but throws it in Hobbs face; Hobbs then tries to start a fight with Aloysius, but the lights suddenly go out and a gun goes off; When the lights turn back on, Hobbs is dead; The bartender then accuses Kare for killing Hobbs, and when Kare denies it he is shocked when the bartender pulls out the gun out of Kare's holster and shows that the gun was recently fired.     "War Drums in the Badlands!"; Across the range, drums of war are played to call together the various Native American tribes in the region; A warrior named Cunning Fox meets with Red Hawk of the Apaches and informs him that Bald Eagle, the father of all the Native Peoples, has called his brothers to arms to go on the warpath and force the white man off their lands; He explains to Red Hawk that since his people have been allies of the white men that they will be crushed if they do not side with Bald Eagle; Apache Kid attempts to talk them out of going to war, saying that both the white settlers and the Native Americans must learn to live in peace.
