A traveling salesman tries to run down an innocent couple; In the Florida Everglades, Joshua Kale and his children Jennifer and Andy watch news reports detailing the strange outbreaks of violence; Kale realizes that these seemingly unrelated incidents are in connection with the takeover of human minds and souls by demons of the underworld; He decides to assemble his cult; The cult meets in the swamp and Kale prepares a ritual that he hopes will block the demons' entry to the Earth realm. Jennifer and Andy sit nearby and watch the spectacle; The Man-Thing is likewise nearby and shambles close to them. "Listen, You Fool," art by Paul Reinman; Albert Rudley suspects that his wife Rita has been trying to murder him; Though he suffers from poor hearing, his hearing aid enables him to overhear his wife conspiring with their chauffeur Vincent; Albert learns that the recent string of "near accidents" that he has suffered were actually plots to end his life; Later, Rita asks her husband to go on a boating trip to Canada. Albert knows that she intends on capsizing the boat in the hopes that he will drown, so he takes measures to prevent this. Schist plans on tearing down part of the swamp to build a new airport, the local Native American's that live on the land try to sabotage the construction vehicles, and one of them is shot; Witnessing the spectacle, the Man-Thing brings the wounded Native to the home of a doctor who begins treating the wounded man; In the following days, opposition and protests over Schist's plans begin to mount, however nothing seems to sway Schist from stopping his development plans; However, when the workers begin to tear up the land, it brings about the Man-Thing which tries to stop them from continuing their construction; The workers try to kill the Man-Thing. "It Came Out of the Sky!", script by Steve Gerber, pencils by Val Mayerik, inks by Sal Trapani; The Man-Thing stumbles across an alien ship that has crashed in the swamp; Inside is Wundarr, an alien from another planet which was doomed to explode. Wundarr's parents, wanting their son to survive sent him into space in a rocket, hoping their boy would find a new home; That home turned out to be Earth, but when Wundarr crash landed, he was not found for many years and grew to adulthood without any sort of education; Freed by the Man-Thing, the now infantile adult of Wundarr begins to explore this strange new world, and his super-human abilities; Wundarr's curiosity and inability to understand his own actions prompts the Man-Thing to believe he is being attacked, and the two end up in a battle which takes them into the town of Citrusville, where the two combat each other; Wundarr, making his first appearance, is a take-off on Superman; His next appearance is in Marvel Two-In-One #2. 36 pgs., full color. "A Question of Survival!", script by Steve Gerber, pencils by Val Mayerik, inks by Sal Trapani; Ralph Sorrell is on his way home after having a few too many drinks, causing him to get into a car crash with a passenger bus; Both vehicles crash into the nearby swamp; The entire accident is viewed by the Man-Thing, who silently watches the events unfold; Most people on the bus die, while Ralph survives; Among the few survivors from the bus are Mary Brown, soldier Jim Arsdale, student Holden Crane, and a young boy named Kevin Kennerman; When Kevin is pinned in the wreckage of the bus, Holden refuses to help; Holden claims being "against life," causing friction among the survivors; The Man-Thing arrives, lifts up the wreckage, and frees the boy to the shock and awe of the other survivors. 36 pgs., full color.     1st appearance of Howard the Duck - Cover pencils by Gil Kane, inks by Ernie Chan. "The Enchanter's Apprentice!", script by Steve Gerber, pencils by Val Mayerik, inks by Sal Trapani; As an improbable battle rages on below the castle, Man-Thing is picked up by Jennifer Kale, with the savage Korrek following from behind; Korrek catches up with Kale and the Man-Thing and attacks the two of them; Jennifer suddenly awakens screaming, and as her brother and grandfather burst into the room to reassure her it's all a dream; However, Joshua Kale has his doubts that his granddaughters nightmares being just dreams; His suspicions are validated when Korrek is transported to Earth's dimension through a jar of peanut butter and resumes his attack on Jennifer; However, when Joshua and Andy burst into the room, Korrek believes himself surrounded and flees into the swamp; The Kales are soon visited by Dahkim the Mystic who has come to tell the Kales about the disruption in the Nexus of Realities caused by the construction being done in the swamp; Korrek is visited by Howard the Duck, who has also found himself transported to Earth's dimension as well.
