1st printing. Written by Jon B. Cooke and Richard J. Arndt. Art by Howard Chaykin and, Mike Grell. Cover by Howard Chaykin. The First Comics Companion is the only book dedicated to the history of Chicagos groundbreaking independent comics publisher, which took on the Big Two by storm between 1983–1991. From a modest promotional comic hawking theater subscriptions, First soon blossomed into an ambitious, aggressive imprint with achievements that included adapting the fabled sci-fi play Warp; reviving beloved 70s Charlton hero E-Man; luring Mike Grell over from Pacific Comics to continue Starslayer and launch Jon Sable, Freelance; and releasing one of the 80s greatest comic book series, American Flagg! by Howard Chaykin. Soon followed Elric, Grimjack, Nexus, Shatter, Dreadstar, Lone Wolf and Cub, super-hero Alter Ego, and a resurrection of Classics Illustrated. Featuring the recollections of founders Mike Gold, Joe Staton, and dozens more, this book continues Richard J. Arndt and Jon B. Cookes exhaustive carpet-bombing approach to documenting comics history in fascinating detail—first, last, and always, THE definitive account! Featuring new Chaykin cover art! Softcover, 8 1/2-in.x 11-in., 160 pages, PC/PB&W. Cover price $34.95.

A showcase of the artwork from the epic science fiction adventure that reveals the mystery of man's origin and his migration into space. This contains six 11" x 17" b&w plates in a two-color illustrated portfolio. Jack's work is some of the most highly detailed in the comics world, with the kind of backgrounds and intricacies rarely found outside of art by Frazetta and Wally Wood. Here he could do all that detail in works of much larger size than in the comics format, and it's fun to see him doing the central characters and pivotal scenes with lots of room to spread out and present each plate. Plate 1 is signed and numbered by Katz.

1st printing. Story and art by Marker Snyder. Thirteen-year-old Ivan is a tender-hearted vampire who prefers a plant-based diet. In his daydreams, he rejects his destiny and hangs out in the human world forever! But would it be worth it if it means hiding his truest self? Born into a family of vampires, cheerful Ivan is a black sheep: he loves sunshine, his best friends are human, and he cant stomach the thought of eating meat. So when Ivans vampire fangs come in on his first day of eighth grade, hes determined to keep them a secret. He wants to stay in day school, with his sweet group of human BFFs, rather than transfer to night school with the rest of the teenage vampire crowd. Sure, that means hell have to lie to everyone, but how hard can it be? He will just act normal. Keeping his secret gets much harder when Ivan is assigned a new lab partner: transfer student Damien. Around him, Ivan acts anything but normal. Hes fainting and fumbling and far from blending in. Ivan even finds himself thinking about blood and heartbeats and vampire kisses . . . All. Day. Long. Is it safe to spend time with humans, or is Ivan turning into a bloodthirsty vampire against his wishes? He always thought he would do anything to stay in the human world, but maybe its too dangerous to keep pretending. . . . 1st printing. Story and art by Simon Schwartz. In this graphic novel, Simon Schwartz weaves biography and fiction together to explore the life of Arctic adventurer Matthew Henson. 1st printing. Story and art by Michael DeForge. First Year Healthy purports to be the story of a young woman, recently released from the hospital after an outburst, and her burgeoning relationship with an odd, perhaps criminal Turkish immigrant. In a scant 48 pages, working with a vibrant, otherworldly palette of magentas, yellows, and grays, Michael DeForge brings to life a world whose shifting realities are as treacherous as the thin ice its narrator walks on. First Year Healthy is all it appears to be and more: a parable about mental illness, a folk tale about magical cats, and a bizarre, compelling story about relationships. Michael DeForge's effortless storytelling and eye for striking page design make each page of First Year Healthy a fascinating puzzle to be unraveled. Hardcover, 6-in.x 9-in., 48 pages, full color. Freedom of speech is perhaps the most American of virtues. In a nation where everyone wants to speak and be heard, this First Amendment right is vital to our identity and our democracy. These rights have advanced by people who spoke out and fought in our nation's highest court, with each decision refining and reshaping what exactly "free speech" means.
In Free Speech Handbook, Ian Rosenberg and Mike Cavallaro trace this turbulent history across ten seminal Supreme Court cases while drawing parallels with more recent controversies.

1st printing. Story and art by James Kochalka. The Glorkian Warrior is back, and we are sincerely sorry. In the third volume of James Kochalka's off-kilter science fiction series for young readers, the eponymous hapless space adventurer is joined by three horribly annoying little kids. Everything is terrible, and nothing is okay. Well, that's not entirely true. There's a really great mustache. And a valiant cup of coffee. And a truly dastardly villain. And the Glorkian SuperGrandma even makes an appearance! With gorgeous, lively illustrations and super silly humor, this volume in the Glorkian Warrior series is jam-packed with extra-gross gross-out humor and ludicrously bad decisions. Obviously, it's the best yet. Softcover, 128 pages, full color. Cover price $14.99.
