Volume 3 - 1st printing. "1938-1939!" Written by Lee Falk. Art and cover by Phil Davis. Introduction by Erica McNatt. Mandrake the Magician began as a daily strip on June 11, 1934, and whether Lee Falk knew it as a sophomore at the University of Illinois, he was making history. The strips presented in this series of reprints feature two staple characters in addition to the master magician: Lothar and Princess Narda (princess of the mythical European kingdom Cockaigne). Lothar appears within the first few days (June 14, 1934), and Narda is introduced in Mandrake's second adventure. Narda is similar to Flash Gordon's Dale Arden: beautiful, constantly in need of rescue, and the love interest of our hero. A Prince of the Seven Nations of Africa, Lothar is Mandrake's devoted servant, friend and companion. He is, "the strongest man in the world," and decked out in a fez, shorts, and a leopard shirt. This third volume of the series presents eight stories: "Mandrake in Hollywood"; "Sonny the Child Movie Star"; "Mandrake and the Haunted House": "Blozz the Chamption"; "Mandrake in Love"; "Visitors from Space"; "The Deep South"; and "Mandrake in Cockaigne." Hardcover, 12-in. x 9-in., 272 pages, PC/PB&W. Cover price $60.00.

Written by Alex De Campi and Sarah Fine. Art and Cover by Dennis Calero. Bestselling author Sarah Fine (Marked, Sanctum) gives hard-boiled noir a magical edge in this stand-alone adventure, where crime collides with conjuring in the spellbinding world of her Reliquary series. Asa is caught between a rock and several hard places when his mission to snatch a precious artifact from a crime lord's auction is crashed by a rogue commando raid. Surrounded by weapon-wielding enemies, dubious allies, and magic both sinister and seductive, the only way out is paved with double crosses and triple threats. But Asa would rather take the risks than reap the consequences: life under the thumb of sadistic mobster Zhong Lei. 28 pages, full color. Rated T+ Cover price $2.99.
