Riko just manages to shove him out of the way, and, in the hours that follow, she finds herself looking after the boy, named Eito. Riko takes Eito out for a bowl of ramen, but just as they're about to dig in, Eito is fired upon by a distant army sniper. Story and art by Lisa Wool-Rim Sjöblom.

Thousands of South Korean children were adopted around the world in the 1970s and 1980s. More than nine thousand found their new home in Sweden, including the cartoonist Lisa Wool-Rim Sjöblom, who was adopted when she was two years old.

Throughout her childhood she struggled to fit into the homogenous Swedish culture and was continually told to suppress the innate desire to know her origins. As Sjöblom digs deeper into her own backstory, returning to Korea and the orphanage, she finds the truth is much more complicated than the story she was told and struggled to believe.

Shojo Edition - 1st printing. Story and art by by Chiho Saito. Elegance is a way of life at Ohtori Academy. For close to one hundred years, the elite boarding school has values tradition and ceremony above almost everything else. Into this academic milieu walks Utena Tnjou, a short-stressed teenaged girl who favors trim-cut boys clothing. Almost immediately, she finds herself embroiled in sword duels, knotty romantic entanglements and a string of shady alliances. There's a cloud of mystery hanging over the campus of Ohtori and everyone Utena meets harbors a dark and twisted secret. A liberal adaptation of the movie by the same name, The Adolescence of Utena veers wildly from its original source. More direct than the anime and more mature than the original manga series, this version of Chiho Saito's fractured fairy tale blasts Utena straight into the iconic stratosphere. Softcover, 5-in. x 7-in., 192 pages, B&W. NOTE: These are Japanese manga-style GNs and are meant to be read right-to-left. Cover price $9.95.

    1st printing.

    By Lauren R. O'Connor.

Debuting just a few months after Batman himself, Robin has been an integral part of the Dark Knight's history and, from the outset, has both reflected and reinforced particular images of American adolescence. Closely reading several characters who have "played" Robin over the past eighty years, Robin and the Making of American Adolescence reveals the Boy (and sometimes Girl!) Wonder as a complex figure through whom mainstream culture has addressed anxieties about adolescents in relation to sexuality, gender, and race.

Written by Ian Doescher. Art and cover by Nicolas Delort.

Power struggles. Bitter rivalries. Jealousy. Betrayals. Star-crossed lovers. When you consider all these plot points, it's pretty surprising William Shakespeare didn't write Mean Girls. But now fans can treat themselves to the epic drama and heroic hilarity of the classic teen comedy rendered with the wit, flair, and iambic pentameter of the Bard.

Our heroine Cady disguises herself to infiltrate the conniving Plastics, falls for off-limits Aaron, struggles with her allegiance to newfound friends Damian and Janis, and stirs up age-old vendettas among the factions of her high school. On the 15th anniversary of its release, Mean Girls is a recognized cultural phenomenon, and it's more than ready for an Elizabethan makeover.

Softcover, 5-in. x 8-in., 176 pages, Text (with B&W Chapter Illustrations). All Ages

    Cover price $12.99.
