This issue marks the first comic-book appearance of the Cisco Kid. After eluding the town sheriff, Cisco and Pancho get involved in the 20-year duel between two elderly gents over the affections of Conchita. Terrific art by Charles A. Voight. By Francis M. Nevins.

The Films of the Cisco Kid follows in the footsteps of our best selling western book The Films of Hopalong Cassidy by the same author.

Francis M. Nevins begins by introdusing us to William Sidney Porter, better known as O. Henry, who created the Cisco character (not a Mexican but an Anglo and not a romantic rogue but a cold hearted killer) in the 1907 short story "The Caballero's Way." Then he covers the various transformations of Cisco in short silent movies of the Nineteen Teens, in the first three Cisco features starring Warner Baxter, in the later features where Cisco was played in turn by Cesar Romero, Duncan Renaldo, Gilbert Roland, and Duncan Ren again.

The long chapter on The Cisco Kid TV series (1950-1956) includes the vivid reminiscences of Renaldo's double Troy Melton, Leo Carillo's double Bill Catching, and ace Western director Paul Landres. The final chapter, on the 1994 Cisco TV movie starring Jimmy Smits, is followed by a complete filmography including credits for each of the 156 episodes of the television series.

    Softcover, 8 1/2-in. x 11-in., 240 pages, B&W.

But on the way to trial, some tell of a dangerous encounter with a mysterious outlaw called the Cisco Kid. Did the paths of these two legendary gunslingers cross somewhere in the southwest? If so, whose side of the story should we believe? Myth meets history in this fanastic Western showdown! Writer Chuck Dixon is joined by artist Enrique Villagran on Wyatt Earp vs. The Cisco Kid, and on The Cisco Kid vs. Wyatt Earp writer Len Kody and artist EricJ join Dixon. Cover price $3.99.
