    Volume 8 - 1st printing. "1945, May-September 1955, and September 1957!" Collects Front Page Comic Book (1945), Prize Mystery (1955) #1-3, and Man in Black (1957 Harvey) #1. Featuring Stories by Ben Brown, David, Gantz, Ed Smalle, Iger Shop, and Steve Ditko. More horror and suspense for Classic Horror Comics Volume 8! Starting with this little gem-Front Page Comic Book is a Pre-Code anthology from Harvey that contains the origin and first appearance of the Man in Black. This was the only issue of the series. Prize Mystery added a cash incentive for the lucky 1950s reader if they could solve a two-page mystery involving murder. Ironically, solutions to the prize mysteries were to be announced in the issue #4... but, alas it never happened. Man in Black, the faceless occult avenger, tells strange stories, sometimes intervening in person, other times merely letting ironic fate unfold. Reproduced completely from cover to cover as they should be, just like the original comic! Softcover, 184 pages, full color. Cover price $32.99.

But always gave as good as he got; he was an experienced and persistent detective taking his cases very personally and killed many of his early foes, claiming they were reaching for a weapon.
