    Captain George's Comic World (1970) 25-26

    Special Giant double issue featuring Stanley Pitt's Silver Starr in the Flame World. Stanley Pitt is an Australian artist inspired, like Al Williamson, by Alex Raymond's Flash Gordon. Silver Starr was a comic strip centered on an Australian soldier, Silver, who on his return from the Second World War, joins an expedition to the Earth's interior aboard a rocket-powered vehicle. They discover the incredible Flame World and its ruler, Queen Pristine (Pitt's homage to Raymond's Dale Arden), rescuing her from the evil despot, Tarka (another acknowledgement to Raymond's Ming the Merciless). These newspaper strips ran from November 1946 until November 1948. 7 3/4-in. x 11-in., 80 pages, not stapled, black and white. Cover price $0.60.
