This volume chronicles the story of the Atlanteans - beneficent beings of prehistory; an advanced race dedicated to guiding and shepherding the nascent human race towards a destiny of greatness. When disaster strikes, however, the Atlanteans are plunged into a comatose slumber at the ocean's floor...until a taciturn stranger awakens a handful of them and introduces them to the Earth of 100,000 A.D. They rise from the sea floor to find their utopia forgotten and in ruins by a world where every inch of land has been transformed into a giant amusement park commemorating different eras in Earth's history - but where humanity itself is nowhere to be found.
