Four Color comic books issue 1350

  • Issue #1350
    Four Color (1942-1962 Dell 2nd Series) 1350

Indicia title is "Walt Disney's COMANCHE, No. 1350." Cover photo of Sal Mineo. Art by Nat Edson. Four Color is the collective title for Dell's long, irregularly published series of one-shots. This issue is based on the 1958 Walt Disney film Tonka, later retitled Comanche. The film in turn was based on the true story of the horse named Tonka or Comanche. First a wild stallion, then captured and trained by Sioux warrior White Bull, Tonka retains his wild energy. Escaping the Sioux, Tonka is recaptured by US Cavalry forces, who call him Comanche. In the aftermath of the Battle of Little Bighorn, legend has it that Tonka/Comanche is the only survivor on the U.S. side. Plus photos from the movie and fun facts about Native Americans. Tonka, the Great One; Tonka; History Records Their Names; Before the Battle. 32 pages, Full Color Cover price $0.15.
