Beep Beep the Road Runner. 10c Cover Price Edition. Ad on back cover. Cover by Pete Alvarado. Stories by Paul S. Newman and Michael Maltese. Art by Pete Alvarado. Four Color is the collective title for Dell's long, irregularly published series of one-shots. This issue is based on the classic Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote cartoons. This was, in fact, the issue that established the later Dell/Gold Key Road Runner series. The comics feature three younger Road Runners, to add extra frustration to Wile E. Coyote's day. The Coyote tries an Instant Boulder (just add water), a Road Runner Rocket, an electric storm-maker, and an old-fashioned harpoon gun against the Road Runners. Another scheme involves a hot-air balloon and an anvil, but once he drops the anvil, there's nothing to keep the balloon from careening away. Gee Whizz-z-z; Hasty Pudding; Go-Go-Go; School Daze; Stop, Look, and Hasten. 32 pages, Full Color. Cover price $0.10.
