Toby Press was a small but respectable comics publisher, which also used the imprint Minoan; they put out one issue of Tales of Terror, then got hit by a cease-and-desist order from E.C., which used that title for their annuals (don't worry we'll bring you that particular issue later on). Toby dropped that and started over with Tales of Horror, which ran for 13 issues. Toby may be the only comics publisher to swipe the urbane and cynical stories of John Collier, rather than relying on Poe, Lovecraft, and the like. Softcover, 184 pages, full color. Cover price $32.99.

(W) Larry Hama (A) Mike Mayhew & Various (CA) Michael Golden Special Guest Writer/Editor Larry Hama concocts three all-new terror tales with classic EC twists! In 'Eliza's Dolly,' Mary Beth Ludlow is very annoyed with neighbor child Eliza, the eccentric five-year-old who is always trundling up and down the sidewalk in their cozy suburban neighborhood with a ratty old baby doll carriage with squeaky wheels. But whenever Mary Beth tries to see what's in the carriage, Eliza closes it up and wheels away. Eventually, Mary Beth will find out exactly what is in that baby carriage, but she's definitely not going to like it - but we suspect sophisticated horror aficionados will absolutely love it! As you will the other two fear fables that are just too vile to discuss this august catalogue of American comicbook publications! Cover price $3.99.
