Freddy gives Vern the idea to use "interlocking bricks" (i.e., Lego, but never named as such) to impress a client. Vern pretends to be sick to get out of a work retreat. Vern's new experimental hair-restorative formula actually causes total baldness within 24 hours. This spinoff of the popular TV/radio show provides a bridge between I Love Lucy-style domestic comedy and Archie-style teen comedy, two staples of 1950s entertainment. Inspired by literary tough guy Spike Shlaghammer (a spoof of Mike Hammer), Freddie decides to become a tough guy to impress Margie. Freddie buys flowers for Margie, but when he sees her stepping out with another guy, he exchanges them for cacti. Freddie ill-advisedly decides to challenge the guy he sees Margie hanging out with.
