During the 1940s, military hero Don Winslow was the star of a comic strip, a movie serial and a popular radio show in addition to this Fawcett comic. Viking pirates (!) lost in the Sargasso Sea in the 10th century are revived in the 20th century to resume their buccaneering. Don and Red are captured by fascists trying to take over the country of Rugomania, in a story that includes images of the "injury-to-the-eye-motif," a Fredric Wertham favorite. Boxer Flatbush Foley returns, "helping" Don solve a murder mystery. Also featuring a Tootsie Roll ad, "Captain Tootsie and the Babe Ruth Story," with art by Shazam creator C.C. Beck and a cameo by actor William Bendix, promoting the film The Babe Ruth Story. Legend of the Sargasso Sea; Colonel Corn and Korny Kobb: Gentlemen Scholars; The Castle of Evil; Silly Sue; Warriors of the Sea: Prelude to Glory; Navy Head-Knockers; The Disappearing Body. 32 pages, Full Color. Cover price $0.10.
