Steve and a motley crew of passengers are stranded in the Canadian wilderness after an air taxi goes down; Steve remembers the invasion of Burma during World War II. Kitchen Sink also provides a wealth of behind-the-scenes material about Caniff's career. This issue features biographies of Lt. Frank Higgs and Air Force officer Phil Cochran, the real-life pilots who inspired Caniff characters; how actual Air Force flight training contrasts with Caniff's strips; and a joke strip where Caniff tries to get a friend a job on the Li'l Abner comic strip.
