    Volume 4 - 1st printing. "1957-1958!"

Story and art by Charles M. Schulz.

In this fourth paperback volume, the 1950s close and Peanuts enters its golden age.

Linus becomes downright eloquent and begins to fend off Lucy's bullying, although his neurosis becomes more pronounced, including a harrowing two-weeks of blanketlessness. Charlie Brown cascades further down the hill to loserdom, with lost kites and humiliating baseball losses. But the rising star is undoubtedly Snoopy. Also available for the holidays is a gift box containing this volume and Vol. 3 1955-1956.

Complete Peanuts HC (2004-2016 Fantagraphics) 4-1ST

Volume 4 - 1st printing. "1957-1958!" Story and art by Charles Schulz. As the 1950s close down, Peanuts definitively enters its golden age. Linus, who had just learned to speak in the previous volume, becomes downright eloquent and even begins to fend off Lucy's bullying, while his security neurosis becomes more pronounced. Charlie Brown cascades further down the hill to loserdom, with spectacularly lost kites and humiliating baseball losses. Pig-Pen, Shermy, Violet, and Patty are also around, as is an increasingly Beethoven-fixated Schroeder. But the rising star is undoubtedly Snoopy. No wonder the beagle is the cover star not only of this volume, but of the collector's slipcase. Introduction by Jonathan Franzen. Hardcover, 9-in. x 7-in., 352 pages, B&W. Cover price $28.95.
