Stories and art by Al Liederman and others. Silent-movie cowboy Tom Mix became a pop-culture icon with his 1940s radio show and this tie-in comic. While Tom shows his stuff at a rodeo, outlaws scheme to steal the diamond-studded belt he won for being the Best Cowboy Ever. A desperate town sends a request that Tom "come hyar" and find out what happened to their missing sheriff. Confusion reigns when a 12-year-old outlaw calling himself The Pecos Kid shows up, right after wanted killer Pecos Pete wounds the local sheriff. Plus a vintage Tootsie Roll ad, Captain Tootsie Saves the School Party, with art by Shazam co-creator CC Beck. The Saga of Tom Mix; Cowboy Cal; Saddlehead; The Mystery of the Missing Sheriff; The Shooting of Little Duke; Tumbleweed Jr. Has a Pet Theory; Round Up Time with Tom Mix; The Big Bank Robbery; Whipper-Snappers; The Fallen Hero. 48 pages, Full Color. Stories and art by Charles Biro, August Froehlich, Stan Schendel, and Fred Meagher. When movie cowboy Tom Mix's radio show hit it big, sponsor Ralston Purina offered Tom Mix Comics by mail for two boxtops of any Ralston cereal. The art, often uncredited, is exceptionally nice in this series. A mysterious wave of cattle rustling plagues the ranchers of Dobie, and only Tom Mix can find the culprits. The Fumble family deals with a visit from cantankerous, miserly Uncle Amos, in a story with art by comics legend Charles Biro. Tom tries to stop Black Bart's gang from holding up the train at Devil's Pass. Plus activities pages, magic tricks, and a somewhat spurious comics biography of screen legend and real-life cowboy Tom Mix. And a vintage ad for Ralston cereal prizes, including a 48-star American flag and a "pocket size camera." Ghost Canyon; The Fumble Family with Amos Q. Snood; My Favorite Magic Tricks; Sure as Shootin'; Jane's Page; Jane of Dream Castle; Straight Shooters Keep Busy; The Gunsight Holdup. 32 pages, Full Color.
