Tom Mix comic books issue 10

  • Issue #10
Tom Mix Western (1948 Fawcett) 10
    • Only 1 staple (manufacturing). Cover loose.

Stories and art by Al Liederman and others. Silent-movie cowboy Tom Mix became a pop-culture icon with his 1940s radio show and this tie-in comic. This issue was NOT mentioned in the text of the anti-comics classic Seduction of the Innocent, despite an erroneous report in Overstreet (it was the previous issue that was mentioned). Tom tracks down the culprits who have been vandalizing various properties around town, in one of many stories from the era focused on "juvenile delinquents" (the story calls them "little coyotes"). The fierce competition between rival stagecoach companies escalates to sabotage and attempted murder. Outlaw Big Hat McCoy plots to get rid of Tom by switching out the blanks that Tom's gunfighting students use during training. Plus a vintage Tootsie Roll ad, Captain Tootsie Traps Killer Bear with Invisible Light, with art by Shazam co-creator CC Beck. And another vintage ad for the Tom Mix radio show, and Tom Mix glow-in-the-dark spurs! The Vandals; Cowboy Cal; Saddlehead; Colonel Corn and Korny Kobb; Murder in Advance; Accessories Before the Fact; Masked Treachery; Tumbleweed Jr.: A Tuneful Tale; Round Up Time with Tom Mix; Uncle Oscar; Death on the Prowl. 48 pages, Full Color. Cover price $0.10.
