Stories and art by Henry Kiefer and others. Violent, offbeat pre-Code crime comics from D.S. Publishing Company. These early issues featured stories inspired by true crimes, such as the story of legendary Old West bank robber "Western George" Leslie. In the 1820s, two men make a business of selling corpses to medical schools, even if they have to kill them themselves. This story was based on the Burke and Hare murders, and possibly on an earlier story in issue #43 of Crime Does Not Pay (1942). James Hall confesses that he uses hitchhiking as a tool for murder, earning the name The Hitch-hike Killer. "Make It A Million" Leslie; Corpses - Cash and Carry; The Ledgend (sic) of the Lone Wolf; Death Thumbs a Ride; Inside Witness; Entry in a Diary; Il Diavolo. 52 pages, Full Color. Cover price $0.10.

1st printing. Written by David L Carlson. Art and cover by Landis Blair. As a child, Charlie Rizzo had been told that his father lost his vision in a hunting accident. It wasn't until Charlie found himself in a jail cell for his petty crimes that he learned the truth. Matt Rizzo was blinded by a shotgun blast to the face while working for the mob. Just a teenager and newly blind, he began his bleak new life at Statesville Prison. It was there that his life and very soul were saved by one of America's most notorious killers: Nathan Leopold, of the infamous Leopold and Loeb duo. From David Carlson and Landis Blair comes a moving biography of a remarkable man whose journey from despair to enlightenment mirrored the great works of western literature that ultimately saved him. Hardcover, 8-in. x 9-in., 464 pages, B&W. Cover price $34.99.

Story and art by Hilary Fitzgerald Campbell.
Why is it so much fun to read about death and dismemberment? In Murder Book, lifelong true-crime obsessive and New Yorker cartoonist Hilary Fitzgerald Campbell tries to puzzle out the answer. An unconventional graphic exploration of a lifetime of Ann Rule super-fandom, amateur armchair sleuthing, and a deep dive into the high-profile murders that have fascinated the author for decades, this is a funny, thoughtful, and highly personal blend of memoir, cultural criticism, and true crime with a focus on the often-overlooked victims of notorious killers.
