1st printing. By Gary P. West. Forwards by Hulk Hogan and Jimmy Hart. In the 1980s, the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) was at its peak as a driving force in the multimillion dollar sports entertainment business. Stars of the WWF became household names, even with folks who didn t follow wrestling...names like Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, and Randy "The Macho Man" Savage were as well-known as anyone from Hollywood. One of those stars was Jim Morris, aka Hillbilly Jim, from Bowling Green, Kentucky. Billed as a country mountain hick from Mudlick, Hillbilly Jim burst upon the WWF scene in 1984. With a toothy smile, baby face and big blue eyes sitting on top of his 6-foot-7-inch 300 lb. frame, complete with a scraggly beard, bib overalls and slouch hat to match, Jim s outgoing personality and natural showmanship were a big hit with the fans. Growing up poor in central Kentucky, Jim had more in common with Motown than mountain men, but his street-wise savvy and an intense work ethic kept him out of trouble in his youth, and later helped him succeed as a star high school basketball player and, following high school, a champion weightlifter. Hillbilly Jim The Incredible Story of a Wrestling Superstar is the true story of Hillbilly Jim Morris, from his humble beginnings in Bowling Green, KY to his glory days as one of the most loveable characters in the WWF, and on to his current gig as the host of Hillbilly Jim s Moonshine Matinee on Sirius Satellite Radio. Hardcover, 5 1/2-in. x 8-in., 224 pages, Text.

Popular Culture and Philosophy: Book 16 - 1st printing. "Rhyme 2 Reason!" Edited by Derrick Darby and Tommie Shelby. Find it hard to believe that rap classics by Lauryn Hill, OutKast, and the Notorious B.I.G. can help us uncover the meanings of love articulated in Plato's Symposium? We'll see how Run-D.M.C., Snoop Dogg, and Jay-Z can teach us about self-consciousness and the dialectic in Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit. And we'll learn that Rakim, 2Pac, and Nas can shed light on the conception of God's essence expressed in Aquinas's Summa Theologica. These philosophers delight in showing how a love for rhymes over beats and for pure reason, far from being incompatible, can be mastered and mixed to contemplate life's most profound mysteries! Softcover, 320 pages, Text Only Cover price $17.95.

By Ellen Stern.
Al Hirschfeld knew everybody and drew everybody. He occupied the twentieth century, and illustrated it.
Hirschfeld: The Biography is the first portrait of the renowned artist's life, as spirited and unique as his pen-and-ink drawings. Beginning in the 1920s, he caricatured Hollywood actors, Washington politicians, and celebrities of the stage. Broadway belonged to Hirschfeld. His work appeared in the New York Times and other publications, as well as on book jackets, album covers, posters, and postage stamps, for more than seventy-five years. He worked every day, threw dinner parties twice a week, and hosted New Year's Eve soirees that were legendary. He had three wives, a formidable agent, and a daughter, Nina, the most famous little girl that no one knows.
Ellen Stern has crafted a delightful, detailed, and definitive portrait of Al Hirschfeld, one of our most beloved, and most influential, artists.

By Grant Geissman.
In 1947, Bill Gaines inherited EC Comics, a new venture founded by his legendary father M. C. Gaines. Over the next eight years, Bill Gaines and a "who's who" of the era including Al Feldstein, Harvey Kurtzman, and Wally Wood would reinvent the very notion of the comic book with titles like Tales from the Crypt, Crime SuspenStories, Weird Science, and MAD.
EC delighted in publishing gory, morbid horror and crime comics, but they also pioneered true-to-life war comics, "real" science-fiction stories, and a series of tales about then-taboo subjects as racism, bigotry, vigilantism, drug addiction, police corruption, and anti-Semitism. Too good to last, they were eventually caught up by various 1950s guardians of morality, who were convinced that EC's often over-the-top content was causing juvenile delinquency.
TASCHEN presents the full, fascinating story of this fabled company, written and designed by EC-expert Grant Geissman. Even the most die-hard EC Fan-Addicts will find something new within these pages. Gathering more than 1,000 illustrations that include the rarest and most notorious covers, interior pages and panels, photos, vintage original artwork, and some of the most celebrated stories ever to be printed, this is the ultimate EC Comics compendium!

In addition to a literary form, it also encompasses film, TV, comics, toys and our beloved toy astronauts, or other figures such as aliens, monsters and other playable genres. 20th Anniversary Edition - 1st printing. By Mark James Estren. In the land that time forgot, 1960s and 1970s America, there once were some bold, forthright, thoroughly unashamed social commentators who said things that "couldn't be said" and showed things that "couldn't be shown." They were cartoonists - underground cartoonists. And they were some of the cleverest, most interesting social commentators of their time, as well as some of the very best artists, whose work has influenced the visual arts right up until today. A History of Underground Comics is their story - told in their own art, in their own words, with connecting commentary and analysis by one of the very few media people who took them seriously from the start. oftcover, 8-in. x 11-in., 320 pages, B&W.
