Volume 1 - 1st printing. Story and art by Paul Kirchner. The bus comic strips were first published in 1978 in Heavy Metal magazine, where they appeared regularly for seven years. In six to eight mostly wordless panels, former Wally Wood's assistant Paul Kirchner takes readers through a tightly rendered surrealist world as experienced by a rotund bald man and a forever returning bus. In the bus, fire hydrants come alive, buses chose to stray away from the law and the distant horizon might be just an arm's length away. In the 25 years since its original publication in 1987, this forgotten gem had never been republished. Hardcover, 6-in. x 9-in., 96 pages, B&W. Cover price $25.00.

Volume 1 - 2nd and later printings. Story and art by Paul Kirchner. The bus comic strips were first published in 1978 in Heavy Metal magazine, where they appeared regularly for seven years. From the simple, mundane premise of a man waiting for his bus, the strips quickly slip into a weird yet hilarious world where cities are surreal labyrinths and bewilderment is just around the corner. Six to eight wordless panels is often all it takes Kirchner to display his sense for the bizarre. In the bus, fire hydrants come alive, buses chose to stray away from the law, the distant horizon might be just an arm's length away and the whole world might just turn out to be a two-dimensional panel messing with our sense of depth. Hardcover, 6-in. x 9-in., 96 pages, B&W. Cover price $22.00.

  • Issue #2-1ST
Bus HC (2014- Editions Tanibis) By Paul Kirchner 2-1ST

This item is not in stock at MyComicShop. If you use the "Add to want list" tab to add this issue to your want list, we will email you when it becomes available.

Volume 2 - 1st printing. Story and art by Paul Kirchner. Between 1974 and 1986, Paul Kirchner created several comic strips such as Dope Rider and the bus. In 2012, French publisher Tanibis published an anthology of the bus strips that was nominated at the Angouleme International festival, proving that even a 30-year-old public transportation vehicle can take part in a Grand Prix. In 2013, Kirchner decided to relaunch the bus. His new ideas are on par with the original strips, proving that his creativity didn't end with the 80s. The crazy cartoon logic of the original strips is still present, and wackiness is the norm. Hardcover, 6-in. x 9-in., 56 pages, B&W. Cover price $16.00.

Button Pusher GN (2022 First Second Books) 1-1ST

    (see more images)

    1st printing.

Story and art by Tyler Page.

A graphic memoir about Tyler, a child who is diagnosed with ADHD and has to discover for himself how to best manage it. Tyler's brain is different. Unlike his friends, he has a hard time paying attention in class. He acts out in goofy, over-the-top ways. Sometimes, he even does dangerous things-like cut up a bus seat with a pocketknife or hang out of an attic window.

To the adults in his life, Tyler seems like a troublemaker. But he knows that he's not. Tyler is curious and creative. He's the best artist in his grade, and when he can focus, he gets great grades. He doesn't want to cause trouble, but sometimes he just feels like he can't control himself.

In Button Pusher, cartoonist Tyler Page delves into his childhood experiences and explores what it means to grow up with ADHD. From diagnosis to treatment and beyond, Tyler's story is raw and enlightening, inviting you to see the world from a new perspective.

    Softcover, 6-in. x 9-in., 128 pages, full color.

1st printing. Written by Samuel Sattin. Art and cover by Rye Hickman. Isaac Itkin can't get away from his thoughts. As a lonely twelve-year-old kid with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), everything from studying to looking in the mirror becomes a battle between him and a swarm of unhelpful thoughts. The strict therapy his mother insists on doesn't seem to be working, but when a group of friends invites him to join their after-school role-playing game, the thoughts feel a little less loud, and the world feels a little brighter. But Isaac's therapist says that exposure to games can have negative effects on kids with OCD, and when his grades slip, his helicopter mother won't let him play anymore. Now Isaac needs to find a way to prove to himself, to his mother, and to the world that the way to quiet the noise in his head may have been inside him all along. 1st printing.

Story and art by Eric Glickman.

Camp Pock-a-Wocknee & the DYN-O-MITE Summer of '77 is a coming-of-age, graphic novel celebrating Jewish sleepaway camp and the ways boys find friendship and love during those seminal summers.

Combining the nostalgic mood of The Wonder Years, the raucousness of Superbad, and the adolescent angst of Pen15, this 300-page graphic novel juxtaposes classic, black and white, comic strip art with an R-rated story to capture the tension created when the innocence of childhood crashes into the messiness of adolescence.

    Softcover, 6-in. x 7-in., 304 pages, B&W. Mature Readers

    Cover price $29.99.
