But interview after interview, hiring committee after hiring committee, Ben soon learns getting the dream job won't be as easy as he thought.

Proofreading? Journalism? Copywriting? Not enough experience.

He's actually not so bad in the kitchen, but he will have to pass a series of cooking tests to prove he's got the culinary skills to stay on full-time.

    But it's only temporary...right?

When Ben begins developing a crush on Liam, one of the other super dreamy chefs at the restaurant, and when he starts ditching his old college friends and his old writing job plans, his career path starts to become much less clear.

    Published Jun 2008 by Atheneum.

1st printing. Story and art by Hope Larson. It's summertime, and 13-year-old Abby is at camp. It promises to be a great time - she's planning to spend a lot of time with her friend Rose, who is now a cabin assistant, and she'll be bunking with Beth, a girl she met the summer before. But Rose turns out to be too busy with her new cabin assistant duties to spend any time hanging out with Abby. And Beth seems to have developed a persona that's almost too cool for Abby to get. Then Shasta arrives on the scene. She's pretty, she's fun, and she enjoys exactly the same books and games Abby does. Unfortunately she also rubs Beth and Zoe, Abby's other cabinmate, the wrong way. What happens next will be familiar to any girl who's ever been torn between friendships. This is a classic summer camp story of the friendships and betrayals among girls that epitomizes what it's like to be female, nerdy, and adolescent in America. Softcover, 6-in. x 8 1/2-in., 170 pages, B&W. Cover price $9.99.

    1st printing.

Written by Mario Hernandez. Art and cover by Gilbert Hernandez.

This comics omnibus includes the graphic novels Julio's Day and The Children of Palomar, as well as never-before-collected work by brothers Mario and Gilbert Hernandez, some of which has never been available since its early 2000s run in comic book single issues.

Children of Palomar and Other Tales (the fifteenth volume in our Complete Love and Rockets Library omnibuses and the eighth Gilbert volume) begins with "Me for the Unknown," uncollected since its original 2001-2004 run in Love and Rockets Vol. II comic books.

Written by Mario Hernandez and drawn by Gilbert Hernandez, it traces the Rabelaisian journey of Tagg Lillard. A U.S. citizen with a seemingly perfect life working in Latin America, he escapes a death trap clutching important papers, and an imperious CEO and his manservant pursue him through a land plagued by colonialist/corporate greed. Also collected: one of their joints from 2008, "Chiro el Indio." In The Children of Palomar suite of short stories (2006-2007; collected in 2013), there are many mysterious visitors, an apparition that haunts childless women, and readers learn how Chelo lost her eye. And in Julio's Day, which originally ran from 2001-2008 and was collected in 2013, a man's life-threaded with war, loss, illness, and forbidden love-spans a century.

Children of Palomar and Other Tales: A Love and Rockets Book is part of the Love and Rockets series.

It's all combined to create quite the aura of mystery around a 14-year-old girl who just wants some pizza rolls, and while her soul might belong to Satan, her heart belongs to the electric guitar. But one day, when Archie and company come looking for her help because Jughead is acting weird, Jinx and her BFF Danni embark on a mission to exorcize Jughead. It's the two BFFs vs. Satan for the good of humanity-or at very least, for Jinx to just be free to be a normal 14-year-old girl who just happens to dabble in necromancy and rock 'n' roll. 32 pages, full color. Chimo GN (2011) 1-1ST

1st printing. Story and art by David Collier. Since publishing his first story in R. Crumb's Weirdo magazine, David Collier has been known for his thoughtful comic essays. Chimo is an account of Collier's decision to re-enlist in the Canadian army and go through basic training again at age 40, leaving his new family behind. He intends to get to Afghanistan and follow in the footsteps of artists who produced a body of work while serving in the Canadian War Artists Program. It is a poignant account of aging and mortality but, in true Collier fashion, digresses into scenes of jumping rope and the story of his childhood hero, skier "Jackrabbit" Johannsen. Softcover, 128 pages, B&W. Cover price $17.00.

1st printing. Written by Philippe Otie. Art and cover by Li Kunwu. A Chinese Life is an astonishing graphic novel set against the backdrop of the creation of the People's Republic of China in 1949. This distinctively drawn work chronicles the rise and reign of Chairman Mao Zedong, and his sweeping, often cataclysmic vision for the most populated country on the planet. Li Kunwu spent more than 30 years as a state artist for the Communist Party. Working with Philippe Ôtié, the artist has created a memoir of self and state, a rich, very human account of a major historical moment with contemporary consequences.
