Ambushed on a space transport leaving the moon, the Seraphic Feather team faces combat of the mysterious, meta-powered kind. View scansSuperfuel for Superplanes was distributed by Standard Oil. Art by "Plastic Man" artist Al Plastino. The history of gas development and production is told as a former WW1 Fighter pilot talks with a younger jet airplane test-pilot who had flown planes powered with high-octane gasoline engine while fighting the Axis. Hitler, Tojo and Mussolini appearances. This comic is an excellent post-war promotional comic in which, understandably, former enemies Germany and Japan are not depicted in a positive light. 1st printing. By Roz Kaveney. Modern myths, cheap trash, or the objects of fetishist desire? Most people know something about Superman, Batman, Spider-Man and Wonder Woman, even if what they know is heavily filtered through film and television versions, rather than the comics in which they first appeared. In Superheroes!, acclaimed cultural commentator Roz Kaveney argues that this is a mistake, that, at their best, superhero comics are a form in which some writers and artists are doing fascinating work, not in spite of their chosen form, but because of it. Softcover, 5 1/2-in. x 8 1/2-in., 278 pages, Text Only. Cover price $18.95.
