A parody of Mickey Spillane's hard-boiled "Mike Hammer" detective novels, with art by MAD legend Jack Davis, provoked controversy in the 1950s. The parody of Clement Moore's "The Night Before Christmas" with art by MAD legend Will Elder, while tame by modern standards, got Panic banned in Boston in the 1950s.
