    Ye Book of Bubbles: A contribution to the New York Fair in aid of the Sanitary Commission, is one of the earliest American books of limericks. During the Civil War sanitary fairs were held to raise money for the northern war effort in major cities in the Northeast, this book was created as a fundraiser.
