The adventures of city boy Slats, his small-town sweetheart Becky, and Becky's reprobate father "Bathless Groggins," with exceptionally nice art by Raeburn Van Buren. When Bathless comes into a small fortune, the fortune-hunters come out of the woodwork. First One-Eyed Maggie shows up with proof of her long-forgotten marriage to Bathless.
