Traumatized, the girl explains that when she was taken, she was carrying a gift for her mother. During escape, it was left behind. Now, Vee wants it back. In The Pit, Lexi and Nico are visited by a spectral dog, a victim of a local dog-fighting ring. Yet, despite his brutal death, the spirit is determined to free the surviving animals still imprisoned. What follows is a desperate rescue attempt that penetrates the heart of darkness. Hardcover, 98 pages, PC/PB&W. Cover price $24.99.
