Published in Portland, Oregon, in 1873, this is historically one of the earliest fully illustrated books printed in the Pacific Northwest. Written and illustrated by Captain William Hemphill Bell, it offers a rare, satirical glimpse into early American military and garrison travel life in Alaska shortly after the 1867 purchase from Russia.
