Published 1973 by Comic Art Publishing.Mr. A (1973 Steve Ditko) "H" Hero Series D1A CGC 5.0
Paper: White
Label #4551926013
Ends Jul 15 7:39 PM CST Bid History 5 bids Current Bid $27 Your Secret Max Bid If you'd like to bid, please log in or register. Mr. A is the first in a series of quarterly magazines, each of which was written and drawn entirely by Steve Ditko, without any editorial direction. Somewhat controversial, Mr. A was inspired by Ditko's interest in Ayn Rand's writings. A superhero who espoused an objectivist philosophy, his symbol was a card which was half black and half white representing good and evil, as stated in the comic- "White and Black is Mr. A's symbol of justice: of non-contradictory identification; good is good and evil is evil and neither can be both at the same time. Each is the antithesis of the other! So, if the good is to survive, no compromise with evil is possible!"
While Ditko famously eschewed the nostalgia that influences most (if not all) collecting, Mr. A was the exception for the artist as he once said "He's one character from the past that I'd like to see in the present and the future." Reactions from fans and critics upon release were mixed, though the character did inspire a legacy as Alan Moore used Mr. A as direct inspiration for the character of Rorchach (alongside The Question) in Watchmen. 40 pages, B&W. Cover price $0.50. -

Starts Jul 20 (W) Wyatt Kennedy (A) Jo Mi-Gyeong (CA) Alessio Zonno Based on Glitch Productions' global animation phenomenon created by Liam Vickers and now streaming on Prime Video, it's three cheers for 'destroy all humans' as all-star creators Wyatt Kennedy (Nights, Marvel Voices) and Jo Mi-Gyeong (Eve, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance) unleash the record-setting comics adaptation of the series that you have watched 330 million times: MURDER DRONES! In the far future on the desolate exoplanet designated Copper 9, the humans are long gone but the robotic worker drones they created to mine the planet's resources are still hard at work. Together, they have managed to forge their own makeshift society . . . or so they thought until a previously unknown kind of robot—the dreaded 'Murder Drones'—are activated by a long-forgotten human-scripted protocol to disassemble any worker that deviates from its original programming. But when a rebellious young worker drone named Uzi forms an unlikely alliance with two disassembly drones—Serial Designations N and V—can they, together, uncover the secrets of their origins . . . and stop the spread of the unsettling mechanical virus known as the Absolute Solver? Robots, violence, teen angst, mad science, love, loss, doors, hormones, and chaos! What more could you ask for? A pen, perhaps? It's a clicky pen! (Ask your kids. They'll get it!) 32 pages, full color, not rated. Cover price $4.99.

The 616 Comics Edition
Label #4020109021
Starts Jul 27 The 616 Comics Exclusive Virgin Cover by Hal Laren. Written by Paul Tobin. Art by Andy MacDonald. Seven years ago, an attempt to weaponize dreams resulted in holes being punched through the world we know and into the world of dreams. Nightmarish creatures now stalk the land, sprouting from (and killing) anyone unlucky enough to dream. The only way to save the world is for certain people to have their dreams come true. Which is how Risa Harumi finds herself not only fighting monsters, but forced into finding true love. Monsters and modern dating? It feels like a nightmare either way, and the only help Risa has is a friendly-ish monster named Croak and her pre-teen daughter, Machi. From Paul Tobin (BUNNY MASK) and Andy MacDonald (I BREATHED A BODY, Multiple Man), comes a unique story of one woman's quest to save the world, if only she could learn the difference between love and monsters.

Starts Jul 27 Cover by Pat Masulli and Jon D'Agostino. Stories and art by Pat Masulli and Jon D'Agostino. A spin-off of the long-running comic based on the popular TV/radio show character. Like "My Little Margie," this comic included fashion and story pages featuring Margie in reader-designed fashions that identified the designer by name, even on the cover. Margie becomes a TV private eye, and dresses up like the most adorable Dick Tracy clone ever. She pursues a wanted fugitive and models swimwear. But these stories are just good reasons to show Margie in reader-designed fashions on every page.
