Newcombe joins the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1949 as a pitcher, and becomes one of the first Black All-Stars in 1949. The third Black pitcher to join the major leagues, Newcombe is later named Rookie of the Year. Includes a short message written by Newcombe himself. A Personal Message from Roy Campanella, Ace Backstop of the Brooklyn Dodgers; Roy Campanella, Baseball Hero. 32 pages, Full Color. Cover price $0.10.
