Pioneering comics publisher David McKay's Feature Book was the first US comic book to devote complete issues to a single character. This issue reprints Flash Gordon newspaper comic strips from May 27 to December 14, 1940. Gathering forces from the various alien races of Mongo in his bid to overthrow Ming the Merciless, Flash and Dale meet the Power Men of Mongo. This is the final Feature Book in this format; future issues would be roughly the size of standard comic books to follow. 9-in. x 12-in., 72 pages, B&W.

This issue reprints Lichty's one-panel Grin And Bear It gag-a-day newspaper strip from 1940. At this point, the strip still had a single word balloon, rather than a caption for the dialogue. Samuel Goldwyn writes about Male Leads, which has short bios and 1-in. square portraits of such stars as Clark Gable, William Powell and James Stewart to name a few of the dozens listed. "Million Dollar Mushroom" by Charles Saxon, a short history of the beginnings of the movie industry. William (Hopalong Cassidy) Boyd writes of movie cowboys, again with the short bios and 1-in. square portraits. "He's Not a Censor" is an article about Will Hays. "Versatile" by Anna Neagle writes about stars' beginnings and life before stardom. Orson Welles, Claude Rains, Greta Garbo and many more are profiled. "Villains" by J. Carrol Naish features those actors and actresses known for playing the bad guy. "I Don't Tell Them How to Act" by Frank Capra details how he directs a movie and its players. "Comedians" by Bob Hope profiles dozens of then-popular comedians. George Hurrell pens "Formula for Glamor" which relates some of his experiences in Hollywood. "We Whistle While We Work" by Walt Disney describes how an animated movie is made. Printed using sepia ink.
