Dell Movie Classics presented comics based on Hollywood films (not all of them classics). This issue is based on the 1964 Western about the Northern Cheyenne Exodus of 1878–79. The final Western of legendary director John Ford, Cheyenne Autumn tells the story from the Cheyenne's point of view. In 1878, the surviving Cheyenne chiefs take the remaining tribe from Oklahoma back to their Wyoming homelands. This is seen as a rebellion by the American government and people, forcing action by the reluctant Capt. Archer of the US Army.
