Stories and art by Dick Ayers and others. The indicia reads "Vol. 1 # 1," but this is actually the second series. Capturing the paranoia of the Cold War, this series portrayed a future where "atomic" weapons replaced conventional ones. A three-page musing on "Atom Age Combat" admits that a nuclear war would be a disaster, but suggests limited atomic exchanges are the future. During one such "limited" atomic war, each side wonders if the other is planning to escalate. A supercomputer (1950s style) narrates the tale of its own role in the Cold War. Atom Age Combat; On Target; Old Leatherneck; Who Says?; Past, Present, Future!; I, Sage; DEW; America's Atom-Age Airplane. Final issue published by St. John; series continues as Atom Age Combat (1959 Fago) #2. 32 pages, Full Color. Cover price $0.10.
