On seeing this mere human woman's bravery and strength, Cupid's arrow hits Morbius right in the jugular. But this story has no fairy tale ending. Lena observes Morbius' deadly way of dealing with her captors and utterly rejects him, leading him to wonder whether a monster like him can ever hope to have a normal life. More importantly, Morbius must question the real reasons for his murderous methods of fighting crime. Has he been killing criminals in the name of justice or as a rationalization for his own bloodlust? Can Morbius stop drinking blood without killing himself? Can a vampire find human love?
