Story and art by Maggie Thrash.

All-girl camp. First love. First heartbreak. At once romantic and devastating, brutally honest and full of humor, this graphic-novel memoir is a debut of the rarest sort.

Maggie Thrash has spent basically every summer of her 15-year-old life at Camp Bellflower for Girls, deep in the heart of Appalachia. She's from Atlanta, she's never kissed a guy, she's into Backstreet Boys in a really deep way, and her long summer days are full of a pleasant, peaceful nothing... until one confounding moment. A split-second of innocent physical contact pulls Maggie into a guttwisting love for an older, wiser, and most surprising of all (at least to Maggie), female counselor named Erin. But Camp Bellflower is an impossible place for a girl to fall in love with another girl, and Maggie's savant-like proficiency at the camp's rifle range is the only thing keeping her heart from exploding. When it seems as if Erin maybe feels the same way about Maggie, it's too much for both Maggie and Camp Bellflower to handle, let alone to understand.

    1st printing.

Written by David Almond. Art and cover by Dave McKean.

Joe Quinn has been telling everyone about the poltergeist in his house, but no one believes him. No one, that is, except Davie. Davie's felt the inexplicable presence in the Quinns' house and seen random objects fly through the air. And there's something else...a memory of Davie's beloved sister and a feeling deep down that it might just be possible for ghosts to exist. Full of thoughts of hauntings and grief and God, Davie hovers on a precipice of uncertainty and possibility, a space that storyteller David Almond occupies comfortably and returns to again and again, here paired once more with the dynamic, dreamlike mixed-media art of Dave McKean.

    Hardcover, 7-in. x 8-in., 80 pages, full color.

    Cover price $17.99.

Lone Wolf Goes to the Library HC (2025 Candlewick Press) 1-1ST

    (see more images)

A Junior Library Guild Gold Standard Selection.

1st printing. Written by Kiah Thomas. Art and cover by K-Fai Steele. Oscar the Grouch meets Frog & Toad in this hilarious illustrated early reader series about a cranky wolf on a quest to be left alone.Wolfs library book is overdue, and the librarian says if its not returned today, he will never ever be able to check a book out again. Wolf loves books. He cant let this happen. Even worse: the book is due by the end of story time. Story time means tons of children having noisy fun. Can Wolf get to the library in time while avoiding his nemeses—other people—and preserve both his books . . . and his sanity? Move over, Elephant & Piggie! For readers who have had enough of the buddy duos, for kids whod rather play by themselves—Wolf is the antihero youve been waiting for. Lone Wolf Goes to the Library is another hilarious early reader starring the completely lovable, chronically grumpy Wolf, a character who affirms kids who fly solo better than with friends. Kids who are beginning to read on their own wont be able to get enough of Kiah Thomass sarcastic stories, perfect whether read alone or out loud, and K-Fai Steeles laugh-out-loud illustrations will give any kid, no matter their reading level, a new favorite series. Hardcover, 7 1/2-in. x 8 1/2-in., 48 pages, full color. All Ages Cover price $16.99.
