Winnie and Will have trouble paying the bills. Winnie goes into the dressmaking business, but Will objects to his wife having a job. Winnie baby-sits a little girl who Will can't stand. Bitsy goes to visit her grandmother. Will continues to win at the races, but can't tell Winnie about his winnings since she disapproves of gambling. Will manages to up his race winnings to $1,200. Will keeps betting on the horses, but starts losing money. Will loses all of $1,200 he won by betting on horse races. After leaving Will because of his gambling, Winnie goes to her parents' house; She returns to the apartment, only to be accused of being a burglar and is taken to the police station. Indicia title is "DICK TRACY, No. 96." Untitled Dick Tracy stories, scripts and art by Chester Gould. Tracy finds a chemist being held as a slave by Yogee Yamma in an abandoned section of the subway. In a drunken stupor after getting a $500,000 payoff and thinking he has gotten rid of Tracy and the chemist, Yogee Yamma passes out in a hotel room. Black Pearl takes Tracy and Patton to a secret proving grounds in the mountains to have them test her combination tank-plane-submarine. Tracy and Patton have to test the tank against flame-throwers. Junior sets up a bike-parking business with a man named Buck. Junior tracks the bicycle thieves to their mobile workshop, but the crooks back the truck suddenly, severely injuring him. Herby starts to write a love note but his teacher looks over his shoulder. Smitty and Mr. Bailey go to their usual North Woods fishing resort; There they bring Little Moose the Indian to live with them and try to teach him "civilized" manners. Herby's parents take in his school teacher as a boarder. A football coach wants Mr. Bailey to give him a never-fail football play from his playing days in 1906. Mr. Bailey thinks a girl in the building across the street is flirting with him when she puts signs in the window. Smitty tries to join the Army and the Navy but is turned down.
