In addition to her illustrations, Umishima worked as animation director for She & Her Cat, the first animated work by the award-winning animator Makoto Shinkai, and has contributed to The Heroic Legend of Arslan and other anime series. Umishima's drawings are known for the way they illustrate body movement beautifully, while also expressing a sense of sentimentality.
