How comics, graphic novels, and sacred texts work in concert to expand our sense of the holy. Comics and Sacred Texts explores how comics and notions of the sacred interweave new modes of seeing and understanding the sacral. Comics and graphic narratives help readers see religion in the everyday and in depictions of God, in transfigured, heroic selves as much as in the lives of saints and the meters of holy languages. Coeditors Assaf Gamzou and Ken Koltun-Fromm reveal the graphic character of sacred narratives, imagining new vistas for both comics and religious texts.

Signed Edition. 1st printing. By Neil Gaiman. Published in 1997, Neil Gaiman's darkly hypnotic first novel, Neverwhere, heralded the arrival of this major talent and became a touchstone of urban fantasy. Neverwhere is the story of Richard Mayhew, a young London businessman with a good heart and an ordinary life, which is changed forever when he is plunged through the cracks of reality into a world of shadows and darkness - the Neverwhere. Over the years, a number of versions were produced both in the U.S. and the U.K. Now, this author's preferred edition of his classic novel reconciles these versions and reinstates a number of scenes cut from the original published books, including the special Neverwhere tale, "How the Marquis Got His Coat Back." Hardcover, 6-in. x 9-in., 368 pages, Text Only. Cover price $26.99.

1st printing. By Michael Dougan. "Michael Dougan's stories are funny, substantive, and unpretentious. I like his blend of the real and the fanciful. His illustration is deceptively simple, and sometimes he gives you the idea that he's got more technique than he uses." - Harvey Pekar Softcover, 8-in. x 8-in., 96 pages, B&W. Cover price $7.95.

1st printing. Based on the story by Mary Shelley. Adapted by Jason Cobley and Declan Shalvey. True to the original novel (rather than the Universal films), Declan Shalvey's naturally gothic artistic style is a perfect match for this epic tale. Frankenstein is such a well known title, yet the films strayed so far beyond the original novel that many people today don't realize how this classic horror tale deals with such timeless subjects as alienation, empathy, and understanding beyond appearance. Softcover, full color. Cover price $19.99.

Story and art by Nathan Hale.
In the early 1800s, Texas was a wild and dangerous land fought over by the Mexican government, Native Americans, and settlers from the United States. Beginning with the expeditions of the so-called "Land Pirates," through the doomed stand at the Alamo, and ending with the victory over Santa Anna at the Battle of San Jacinto, the entire Texas saga is on display. Through his vivid depiction and additional maps, and biographies located in the back of the book, Nathan Hale brings new insight for students, teachers, and historians into one of the most iconic structures in the United States.

Hazardous Tales: Alamo All-Stars HC (2019 Amulet Books) A Texas Tale Bigger and Badder Edition #1-1STTags: Nathan Hales's Hazardous Tales (part 6)Published 2019 by Amulet Books.$8.00
2019 Bigger Badder Edition - 1st Printing. Story, art, and cover by Nathan Hale. Remember the Alamo! That rallying cry has gone down in Texas history. But what, exactly, should we remember? Who were the ragtag group of adventurers behind the famous slogan, and how did they end up barricaded in a fort against a Mexican army? Who survived, who died, and how? In the early 1800s, Native Americans, the Mexican government, and settlers from other areas of the United States were fighting over the territory that would become the Lone Star state. Here, vivid illustrations—rendered in black, white, and shades of gray, with tinges of yellow—and witty text tell the story, from Texass near wilderness beginnings to the Battle of the Alamo and General Sam Houstons ultimate victory over General Antonio López de Santa Anna at the Battle of San Jacinto! Hardcover, 7 1/2-in. x 10 1/2-in., 148 pages, full color. Cover price $19.99.
