Tondemon and Mukoda are fighting for their lives-Mukoda wants to kill Tondemon to show how powerful she has become. While Tondemon feels guilty for triggering Mukoda's rage, he fights Mukoda empathetically because she hasn't fully understood the meaning of Kiai. In the end, Mukoda accepts Tondemon's compassion, and the battle ends. Mukoda and Tondemon both disappear from Tamako and Mokichi's lives.
