2nd and later printings. Story and art by Richard McGuire. Richard McGuire's Here is the story of a corner of a room and the events that happened in that space while moving forward and backward in time. The book experiments with formal properties of comics, using multiple panels to convey the different moments in time. A dinosaur from 100,000,000 BCE lumbers by, while a child is playing with a plastic toy that resembles the same dinosaur in the year 1999. Conversations appear to be happening between two people who are centuries apart. Cycles of glaciers transform into marshes, then into forests, then into farmland. A city develops and grows into a suburban sprawl. Here is truly a pioneering comic vision. Hardcover, 6-in. x 9-in., 320 pages, full color. Cover price $35.00.

1st Printing. Art by Marci Washington. Foreword by Nathaniel Rich. Marci Washington's artwork subverts Victorian gothic imagery into a contemporary visual language all its own. Flat washes of gouache and watercolor make up grotesque faces and distorted bodily forms that stare off the page into another dimension. With a muted palette of somber dark green, black, cream, blood red, and brown and gold hues, dismembered bloody hands and heads float suspended in negative space, while livid male and female figures in full gowns and uniforms collapse within rooms of floral wallpaper and glistening chandeliers. Marci Washington's imagery creates a world of hidden stories, bloody handwritten letters, ghosts, forest threats, poisoned drinks, haunted manors, barren winters and betrayal - and this dark world draws you in completely. Story and art by Jim Toomey.

Shermans Lagoon is an imaginary lagoon somewhere in the tropics, inhabited by a cast of sea creatures whose lives are curiously similar to our own. Through his comic strip, cartoonist Jim Toomey explores many of the issues that we face daily in our world on dry land. By putting them in a different context, he helps us laugh at ourselves. His characters attempt new business ventures, go on disastrous dates, try fad diets and read the latest best-selling books. But, they also have problems that are unique to fish. Should you bring shrimp to the holiday party? Will shrimp be there? Sherman, the main character, is a great white shark who is completely unaware of how intimidating his species can be. He gets pushed around by the other characters, namely: Hawthorne the hermit crab, Fillmore the sea turtle, and his wife, Megan, who is another great white shark, of course.
