1st printing. Written Mark Styling and Barret Tillman. When America was plunged into war in the wake of the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, the first aircraft to take the fight to the Japanese were manned by naval aviators flying from Pacific Fleet aircraft carriers that had miraculously escaped the carnage in Hawaii. Escorting bombers attacking the Imperial Japanese Navy, a handful of Wildcats succeeded in fending off attacks by the superior A6M Zero-sen fighter. The pugnacious Grumman fighter held the line in the Pacific until the arrival of better aircraft in the shape of the Corsair and Hellcat during 1943. Both types duly proved more than a match for their Japanese counterparts to the point where the Hellcat was dubbed the ace maker. When the dukes estate is attacked in the middle of the night, Mal sends Serenity to safety while he and Zoë investigate. What they find turns the whole story of Kerry upside-down. Graphic Library: Creation of the US Constitution GN (2007 Capstone) 1-1ST

This item is not in stock at MyComicShop. If you use the "Add to want list" tab to add this issue to your want list, we will email you when it becomes available.

1st printing. Written by Michael Burgan. Art by Gordon Purcell and Terry Beatty. Capstone Press seems to want to ensure that they have the corner on the market created by a federal mandate that all schools receiving federal funds observe Constitution Day on September 17 each year. In this case, the book appeals to the easy-read market by using a graphic novel approach that actually works fairly well. The book concentrates on the struggle amongst the Founding Fathers to resolve the tricky issue of how their new country could reach a balance between putting all power in one leader's hands and the chaos that might come of a loose union of independent states. In effect, the graphic story book style of breaking the narrative into many boxes reflects the way the Constitution was the result of a complex interplay of many individuals and points of view. The illustrations, done in a classic "comic book" style with period dress and background help set the historical context. In addition to the story itself, the book includes a glossary and index, bibliography, and a clever link to internet resources that are age appropriate. Softcover, 7-in. x 8 1/2-in., 32 pages, full color. All Ages Cover price $7.95.

Culturally however, it is totally different. While on the forefront of modern technology, the Hondo-citizens remain tied to the roots and customs of feudal Japan, including the way in which the women are treated as inferior to the male populace. A dazzling combination of comics and essays sheds light on the rich but often overlooked contributions of Spanish immigrants to the political, cultural, and scientific history of the US.

Since the very founding of the United States, the country's history has been intertwined with that of Spain's, in many essential yet often overlooked ways. Illustrating Spain in the US brings together some of Spain's most acclaimed cartoonists and scholars to celebrate and interrogate the contributions of Spanish immigrants to America's political, cultural, and scientific history.

Diplomat Eduardo Garrigues and cartoonist Rayco Pulido resurrect the historical figure of Bernardo de Gálvez, who played a crucial role in the Revolutionary War. Professor James Fernández, Filmmaker Luis Argeo and artists Ana Penyas and Seisdedos bring to life the rollicking immigrant enclave of Tampa, once known as the "Cigar Capital of the World." Professor Estrella de Diego and cartoonist Carla Berrocal shed light on the Spanish actors, screenwriters and musicians who broke into Hollywood and made their mark on American cinema. Professor María Dolores Jiménez-Blanco and cartoonist Max lead readers through the labyrinthine history of Spanish art collecting in the US, and the influence of Spanish art on popular American art movements. And much more! Combining the graphic expressiveness of comic art with the illuminating perspective of scholarly essays, this project aims to spark a creative dialogue about Spain's legacy in the US.

    Hardcover, 8 1/2-in. x 10 1/2-in., 120 pages, B&W.

    Cover price $24.99.
