Volume 1 - 1st printing. "October 1946-October 1949!" Collects Stories from Thrilling Comics (1940-1951 Better/Nedor/Standard) #56-75. Cover by Alex Schomburg. Featuring Princess Pantha Stories by Art Saaf, Alex Schomburg, Ralph Mayo, and Gene Fawcette. Princess Pantha was a circus-performing wild animal handler who went to Africa in search of the legendary giant gorilla M'Gana for her act! She disappeared shortly after setting out-so Gilt-edge Gates, the owner of The National Circus hired Dane Hunter, a famous explorer to find her. After discovering her safari had been wiped out by an unknown hostile native tribe and she'd saved herself by using her ability to make an extra-loud gorilla call, which the natives mistook for the approach of M'Gana and fled. Princess Pantha had survived in the jungle for two months now, utilizing her animal skills, knowledge of jiu-jitsu and a few primitive weapons. Together Pantha and Dane remained in the jungle and continued their quest to capture the legendary giant gorilla M'Gana! Comic book stories from the 1940s and 1950s depicted some ethnic and racial prejudices that were once commonplace in American culture. While not representing the publisher's view of today's society, these stories are printed as they were originally created, because to do otherwise would be the same as claiming these prejudices never existed. Softcover, 184 pages, full color. Cover price $32.99.

In August 1939 a new voice hit the newsstands and changed the comic-book world forever: MARVEL COMICS #1, with its blazing Human Torch cover, had arrived!
This 64-page pulp package wasn't your typical assortment of super-powered, straight-laced, do-gooders-this was something completely new. The amazing android creation of Dr. Phineas Horton, the Human Torch was neither man nor hero-he was a blazing force of nature that shocked and unsettled mankind. Prince Namor, the Sub-Mariner, the half-human/half-Atlantean, ventures from his undersea kingdom into the world of man-not with a mind set on peace, but towards vengeance!
These two characters would form the foundation for the style of conflicted hero that defines Marvel to this day, and you'll see them evolve across twelve full issues from their raw forms into the battling fire and water mega-hits of the Golden Age!
They're flanked by an eclectic set born out of the fast-paced energy and imagination of the Golden Age including the heroic Angel; the wild and incomparable robot invention, Electro; the hard-edged detective, the Ferret; Terry Vance, the boy adventurer; the Western Masked Raider; and the ongoing jungle adventures of Ka-Zar, the Great.
Featuring an extensive essay on Marvel's pulp magazine pre-history, publisher Martin Goodman and the birth of Marvel Comics by noted historian Will Murray, and topped off with special bonus features including original artwork and items never seen since 1939, this collection forms the cornerstone of Marvel history essential for every comic book fan, collector and historian!

Volume 1 - 1st printing. "October 1946-October 1949!" Collects Stories from Thrilling Comics (1940-1951 Better/Nedor/Standard) #56-75. Cover by Alex Schomburg. Hardcover, 208 pages, full color. Cover price $52.99.

Introduction by Will Murray.
Hardcover, 848 pages, full color.
