Cover by Pat Masulli. Stories and art by Sam Glanzman, Bill Fraccio, Tony Tallarico and Joe Gill. Charlton Comics, believing Tarzan to be a public-domain character, produced this short-lived series before the Edgar Rice Burroughs estate made them cease and desist. It's an unauthorized adaptation of Burroughs' Jungle Tales of Tarzan, telling tales of a young Tarzan before he met Jane. An unusual item for the Tarzan collector. Tarzan saves Tantor the elephant from the pit trap the Mbonga tribe built. But when Tarzan falls in the pit himself, Tantor must take action, in a story with art by comics legend Sam Glanzman. In a tale of Tarzan's early life, he battles Sheeta the panther to earn his place in the ape tribe. Plus guides to the animals of Tarzan's jungle (including dinosaurs!) and his life in the jungle. And a fond introduction by editor Pat Masulli. The Capture of Tarzan; Creatures of the World; The Fight for Balu!; Tarzans Way of Life. 32 pages, Full Color. Cover price $0.12.

Book 6 of the Tarzan Series - Authorized by Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc., and Featuring Rare and Previously Unpublished Archival Materials
1st printing. Written by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Art and cover by Joe Jusko. How did the helpless child of the shipwrecked couple John and Alice Clayton become the superhuman legend that is Tarzan of the Apes, Lord of the Jungle? The twelve archetypal coming-of-age tales that compose this book tell the full story, finding their place alongside the richest and most meaningful allegories of mythology. Tarzan grows to adulthood among the apes of the jungle, facing the dawning realization that he is not like them-he is a man. As he battles for survival against savage beasts and merciless cannibals, he experiences a growing intellectual maturity that includes the pangs of his first love, an emerging spirituality, and a longing to discover his place among his own kind. For the first time ever, the Edgar Rice Burroughs Authorized Library presents the complete literary works of the Master of Adventure in handsome uniform editions. Published by the company founded by Burroughs himself in 1923, each volume of the Authorized Library is packed with extras and rarities not to be found in any other edition. From cover art and frontispieces by legendary artist Joe Jusko to forewords and afterwords by today's authorities and luminaries to a treasure trove of bonus materials mined from the company's extensive archives in Tarzana, California, the Edgar Rice Burroughs Authorized Library will take you on a journey of wonder and imagination you will never forget. Hardcover, 6-in. x 9-in., 274 pages, Text (with B&W Chapter Illustrations). Cover price $29.95.
