After accidentally giving Donald a rare coin, Scrooge tries to make an ordinary quarter the rarest in the world by buying all the other quarters and dumping them in the ocean. When his rare quarter is flattened by a steamroller, he takes Donald and the nephews to the bottom of the ocean to get another. But they are captured by the fish-like citizens of Atlantis, who want to keep their underwater city a secret. Scrooge's Christmas pledge to the kids of Shacktown is endangered when a disaster threatens his money bin. In a story by Barks, Donald tries to trick Uncle Scrooge out of a Christmas dinner by impersonating a South American oil tycoon.
